Dominican government extends the Free Health Coverage Plan | The Dominican Government reported that it will extend Free Health Coverage Plan that is granted to all tourists who arrive on commercial flights to the country and are staying in a hotel for the duration of their stay. The coverage includes emergencies and was extended from May 12 through June 12, 2021. It will be 100% paid by the Dominican government. godominicanrepublic.com/coronavirus/
Evergo and CEPM Introduce Electric Buses | The companies Evergo and CEPM (Centro Energético Punta Cana-Macao) carried out a campaign to encourage electric mobility in Dominican Republic by introducing electric buses to the tourist city of Punta Cana. Both companies, along with La Monumental transport created a route going from the Punta Cana airport to the different hotels in the area, also doing excursions and visits to other nearby provinces. The buses are 100% electric and have 44 and 18 seats respectively. evergonet.com
International airlines continue to add new routes to the DR | Several international airlines have new added flights to the Dominican Republic. One of the airlines is American Airlines with a weekly from Dallas-Santo Domingo route that will begin on June 5 until August 14, 2021, with the intention of resuming the route again in November of the same year. The Swiss airline Edelweiss also announced their new weekly Zurich-Puerto Plata route, which will begin on July 2, 2021. Also, on the list is Air Canada, which stated that the Dominican Republic is a priority destination when they reopen the borders.
