Dominican Republic, January 16, 2017.-The Minister of Tourism, Francisco Javier García, will lead the Dominican delegation to participate in the 37th edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), to be held from 18 to 22 January 2017 in Madrid, Spain.

In addition to Minister García, the Dominican delegation will be composed of hoteliers, artisans and representatives of the Association of Hotels and Tourists of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES).

During the event, the Minister of Tourism will hold business meetings with the aim of reaching agreements with airlines and tour operators to ensure more arrival of tourists to the country, and between this market and the Dominican Republic.

More than 160 countries will participate in this conference, where the Dominican Republic seeks to reaffirm its position among Spanish tourists who prefer the country as their long distance destination, thus strengthening the relationship between nations.

Fitur is the international platform where companies, agencies and institutions linked to the tourism sector from all over the world gather and will take place at the IFEMA fairgrounds in Madrid, Spain.

In the last edition Fitur reached a new record of attendees with a total of 231,872 visitors, including 124,659 participating professionals, 2% more than in 2015, and 9,605 companies present, from 165 countries.
