Dominican Republic, March 11, 2017.- The arrival of tourists to the Dominican Republic continues to be strengthened with the incorporation of ten new flights to the Caribbean destination from several German cities.

These operations come from the DER Touristik Tour Operators with two weekly flights, while Anex Tour will carry out three frequencies in the summer of this year and five in the winter of 2018.

The German Tour Operator DER Touristik guaranteed the arrival of a weekly flight to the El Catey International Airport in Samaná, from the German city of Frankfurt, and another to Puerto Plata, departing from Dusseldort, in airplanes with capacity for 268 passengers.

The statements were presented at a press conference at the 51st edition of the ITB Berlin 2017 Fair, by deputy Minister of Tourism Fausto Fernández, along with Petra Cruz, director of the Tourism Promotion Office (OPT) in Germany and Europe, and Joel Santos, president of the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores).

Fernandez said that with this 100% charter operation to Samaná, DER Touristik once again demonstrates its strong commitment to the destination Dominican Republic.

This new commitment on the part of the German market for the North region, known for its “ecotourism” offerings, confirms the success of the marketing strategy of Mitur, highlighting the richness of the regions, the diversity of its offer, and exalting a destination that “has it all”.

The T.O. DER Touristik (with its brands ITS, Travelix, Jahn Reisen, Meier’s Weltreisen and Dertour) is the third German tour operator, in terms of volume of customers to the Dominican Republic.

The German Tour Operator Anex Tour, with its airline Azur Air, chose the Dominican Republic as its first long distance destination, for the sustained growth in the emission of German tourists to this Caribbean country.

The new tour operator Anex Tour, owns the airline “AZUR AIR”, and will start its operations from April 2017, in three direct weekly flights to the Dominican Republic, in the Boing 767-300 fleet, with a total capacity of 330 passengers.

Fernandez added that the new German tour operator, based in the city of Dusseldorf, offers all-inclusive packages. He said flights will be made by Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ), Monday and Wednesday from Dusseldorf Airport (DUS), while Fridays will be made from the Berlin-Schönefeld (SXF) air terminal.

It was also stated that this operation involves a load factor of 80%, which will be transporting 790 passengers a week, equivalent to 20 thousand 200 passengers, for an approximate 8% additional German tourists until December 2017.

He added that in addition to these three flights in the summer of this year, five flights will be incorporated in the winter of 2018.

Anex Tour will be programming seven tourist destinations in the Dominican Republic: Santo Domingo, La Romana, Bayahíbe, Punta Cana, Playa Bávaro, Cap Cana and Uvero Alto. Among the offers it will be included 46 hotels of which, 24 are 5 stars category.
