Tortuga Bay and Eden Roc at Cap Cana share updates at DATE

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – MAY 5, 2017 – Two Punta Cana luxury hotels announced plans for expansion and substantial renovations at the annual Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE) in Punta Cana. Tortuga Bay, part of Puntacana Resort & Club, will undergo renovations this summer, and Eden Roc at Cap Cana announced the opening of its new luxury beachfront suites.

Renovations at Tortuga Bay

Tortuga Bay at Puntacana Resort & Club features 13 secluded villas and it is the only hotel designed by iconic Dominican fashion designer Oscar de la Renta, who was proud to call Punta Cana home for the last 20 years of his life. The hotel was founded in 2005 and is the country’s only AAA 5 Diamond Hotel.

Tortuga Bay will close between July and November this year for a complete renovation to refresh each suite with an updated design and new technology that has been curated to enhance the guest experience. The hotel will also incorporate a renewed aesthetic as well as additional seating, a new kitchen and a new bakery for its Four Diamond Award-winning Bamboo Restaurant.

For the renovation, de la Renta’s wife, Annette de la Renta, plans to collaborate with Haydée Kuret de Rainieri and acclaimed designer Markham Roberts to evolve the design first imagined by Oscar de la Renta.

In addition to updating the suites, Tortuga Bay will add a new wine cellar offering 600 bottles of fine wine, a humidor featuring a wide selection of cigars, a renovated bar and state-of-the-art fitness equipment for its gym. A new lounge will accommodate early arrivals and departures.

New suites at Eden Roc at Cap Cana

The Dominican Republic continues to increase its offerings as a luxury destination with Eden Roc at Cap Cana’s completion of 26 two-bedroom beachfront suites, rounding out an expansion that has already revealed a completely renovated Beach Club with infinity pool; ocean view fitness center equipped with state-of-the-art machines, aero yoga and wellness areas; BLUE Grill + Bar; and refreshed private beach with bar. Eden Roc is one of just four Relais & Chatêaux properties in the Caribbean and the only one in the Dominican Republic.

Two new room types are available at Eden Roc: Beachfront One-Bedroom Suites (1,194 sq. ft.) and Beachfront Two-Bedroom Suites (1,786 sq. ft.). A rustic palette of sand and gray tones fill the rooms with light and are mixed with natural woods and chic fabrics to create an elegant rustic atmosphere in paradise. The decor stays true to the destination with handmade Dominican art and sculptures in each suite. All suites have a full ocean view with a terrace or balcony – a new distinction for the resort.

Plush goose down feather duvets and pillows by Hanse, with luxurious bed linens, plush bathrobes and slippers by Rivolta Carmigani ensure a good night’s rest in each king size bed. Suites also feature stylish bathtubs, contemporary rain shower heads and a large-scale cedar wood walk-in closet.

Bedrooms and living spaces feature satellite TV on 55-inch LCD flat screens, entertainment system with Bose surround sound speakers, and a smart technology iPad to control light, electronics and sound via the resort’s dedicated app. A work area, full kitchen and dining set for six people round out the new accommodations experience.
