On March 26 and 27 at the Montreal Olympic Stadium, Dominican Republic shared its love for baseball with the crowd

Montreal, April 2, 2018 – For the fifth consecutive year, the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic was associated with the great baseball festival, held on March 26 and 27 at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal in which the Blue Jays of Toronto faced off against the Cardinals of St. Louis. Dominican Republic once again brought its warm and colorful touch to these two games, which attract baseball fever to more than 90,000 fans between both days.

For the occasion, a promotional kiosk was installed in the corridors of the Olympic Stadium where visitors could enjoy a virtual reality experience through 360 videos and get more information about the best touristic destinations in the country. Musicians and merengue dancers gave the audience the opportunity to dance together every night at the stadium.

These activities are part of a series of celebrations to thank Canadians for being loyal visitors to our destination. The Tourism Promotion Office in Montreal also took the opportunity to invite Canadian media and tour operators to celebrate with them.

A great excitement spread during the second game, when the crowd welcomed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. with a standing ovation. Energy went up a when he hit a home run in the ninth round, giving the Toronto Blue Jays the victory.

On March 27, a tribute to the Expos of 1981, was presented and sponsored by the Dominican Republic, in which 1981 was honored as the only year in which the Expos participated in the playoffs. The players Tim Raines and Steve Rogers were recognized and on behalf of the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic with a donation on behalf of these players to o the Montreal Baseball School Mont Petit.
