As of July 30, anyone entering the country must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test or take the rapid test upon arrival

Dominican Republic, July 29, 2020 – The Administrative Office of the President of Dominican Republic, through the High-Level Commission for the Prevention and Control of Coronavirus COVID-19, announced that starting Thursday, July 30, all those who wish to enter the country must show proof of a negative PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test, administered within the last five days. If no proof of testing is available, government personnel will perform a quick test, at no additional cost, to the passenger at arrival.

The purpose of this new requirement is to reinforce the preventive measures that have been implemented during the last few months to control the epidemic, as well as to maintain the balance between boosting tourism and protecting the health of residents and visitors. The country’s tourism industry is ready to take on the challenge of continuing to offer exceptional experiences during this “new normal”. This measure will help maintain a level of safety and trust that has made thousands of travelers choose Dominican Republic as their vacation destination.

The rapid diagnostic test that will be carried out at Dominican airports beginning July 30 provides reliable results within 10 minutes through blood serology analysis. Passengers younger than five years of age and crew members are exempted from this new requirement, adding to a series of previously announced preventive measures in the tourism sector. All protocols can be found at the Traveler Information Center www.drtravelcenter.com or on MITUR’s official website  www.godominicanrepublic.com
