The city of Barahona is ideally located near beaches, cold rivers for swims, and is less than an hour away from an array of biodiverse parks, lakes, and mountains.
A popular freshwater river pool, running all the way to where it meets the sea, Los Patos offers a family-friendly ambiance. The river that runs through here, Los Patos, is known as the shortest in the DR. You’ll see ducks stumbling along its banks–hence its name–while you wade, swim and enjoy the cold water. Food and drink booths surround the river area, with plenty of seating and music echoing into the hills and down below to the beach, where the river meets the sea.
