Santo Domingo’s first recreational urban park is also its most popular, and a favorite of athletes. Known as one of the city’s “lungs,” this eight-kilometer (5-mile) park stretches from Winston Churchill to Luperón avenues, and runs parallel to the coast. Walk, jog, roller blade, and bike in the early morning or evening, along Caribbean Sea views. There are children’s playgrounds, an open-air gym, bicycle or roller blade rentals, as well as an artificial lake for boat rides.
