Located close to the fishing towns of Bayahíbe and Boca de Yuma, as well as the Casa de Campo Marina, La Romana is ideally surrounded in sea and river waters. Sports fishers have a myriad of opportunities for chasing tail, whether via a chartered fishing boat or from a catamaran while sailing from Bayahibe to Saona. Casa de Campo Marina hosts annual sports fishing tournaments, including the popular Blue Marlin Classic, Dominican Bluefish Triple Header, and a Lion Fish Tournament. Bayahibe’s local fishermen also host their own colorful annual tournament in May. Deep sea or river fishing trips are available year-round from the marina or from Bayahibe, though the best season ranges from February through May to hook marlin, barracuda, kingfish, sailfish, or river snooker.
